Influx of Winter Thrushes

My gardens full of redwing, flying from tree to tree - but hardly ever showing their face and wing long enough to get a decent photo!  Here is one that popped into the sunlight and with its eyestrip in full view.  The redness under the wing - which can't be seen in this photo - is where it gets its name.

The other winter thrush in abundunce at the moment is the fieldfare.  Keep a look out on the fields for hundreds of them walking about feeding.  When they fly overhead you should be able to hear their crackling call.
