A Walk in the Woods - and Spring Migrants

Just a note to say that I spotted these Sandwich Terns on the East Beach near the harbour wall on Wednesday.  24 in total.  This is the first sign of the spring migration - which is quite late this year.  I would normally have heard the Chiffchaff by now, but the cold weather seems to have held up the inflow of birds!

In the foreground is one of 10 Bar Tailed Godwits that were around the same area.

As for the walk int he woods - we were over at Cloddymoss on Tuesday and were treated to great views of a Goldcrest, a Scottish Crossbill and a family of Long Tailed Tits - among many other woodland birds.  And all from the car park!

Here are a few pics.  (Getting them pinsharp was very difficult - the Goldcrest was flitting between branches and the Crossbill was so high up that my lens was hard to keep steady!)
