At last I've managed to see one of the flocks of Waxwings that have been flitting around our area over the past month. Sadly the light was very poor so the photos aren't as good as I would have liked, but it's easy to show just how beautiful these birds are. they help to brighten up a dark, dank day!
The Waxwings have become regular winter visitors as they invade from Scandanavia looking for berries to keep them going over a hard winter. You can see them flocking high in trees, often in Rowen trees, and they come low to get to the berries. Thankfully they seem very relaxed with humans close by.
Nice shots, haven't seen any myself. We could do with more trees and bushes with berries along the riverside !
